Upon finishing my CNA training, I decided to specialize in working with patients in the dietary field. It necessitated my taking additional training courses to become a dietary advisor, but I have not had any regrets. Acting in the field of a certified nursing assistant, it was obvious to me the role that was played by proper nutrition. While there are some things in life we cannot control, diet is one of them.
The patient that has heart problems would need a diet low in fat. Someone suffering from high blood pressure would be advised to remain salt free. A patient found to have precancerous polyps in the colon would be advised to eat more high fiber foods. So many of the maladies affecting our health can, in some way, be traced back to the foods that we eat. I have learned over the years that proper diet does not have to mean bland or boring. Proper diet can be very palatable.
