Fasting Diets

With a variety of fasting diets coming out of the woodwork they are rising in popularity. However, I am having a hard time figuring out what is the difference between the Every Other Day Diet and the Alternate Day Fasting Diet? Developed by Dr. John Daugirdas, the Every Other Day Diet (EOOD) requires you to eat normally on the first day and on the second day you will only eat a maximum of 400 calories. The Alternate Day Fasting (ADF) diet, origin unknown, expects you to eat whatever you want on the first day and then on the second day you will only consume weight loss drinks, weight loss bars and decaf teas. So I wonder why they call two diets that are basically the same, by two different names. I am starting to think that the original was the Every Other Day Diet and somewhere along the line someone gave it a twist and renamed it, declaring it unique!
